Additionally, the Laboratory Technician will fill in for the fresh fruit technicians during absences and days off. The Laboratory Technician reports to the QA/QC Laboratory Manager. The&nbsp;Laboratory Technician may work any shift. <br><br><br><br><br><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES:</strong><br><ul><li>Perform routine analytical tests per specification: citric acid, brix, ratio, pulp, defects, color, and sensory.&nbsp;</li><li>Calibrate all laboratory equipment at the beginning of each shift. </li><li>Ensure proper use and care of analytical instruments and equipment. </li><li>Pull samples from product lines, tanks, and silo s as directed. </li><li>Perform an audit of the process during the production run. </li><li>Perform pre-operational audits as required, including Charm swabs. </li><li>Verify product quality and integrity by checking the production line during the filling of each lot (looking specifically at package and case integrity, label and code date accuracy, weights, temperatures, and tray/screen inspections for signs of any foreign material). </li><li>Take aseptic samples from Tankers for microbiological testing and evaluate tankers for cleanliness.&nbsp;</li><li>Perform HACCP monitoring activities, including filter checks, metal detector monitoring, m agnet checks,&nbsp;allergen verifications by production line requirements. </li><li>Monitor the line and equipment for food safety-related items such as good manufacturing practices and proper sanitation practices. </li><li>Properly document all data and provide timely/effective communication to production supervisors,&nbsp;management, production employees, and other Quality Assurance Technicians and Supervisors.&nbsp;</li><li>Report on non-standard conditions to the Lead or Lab Manager immediately. </li><li>Follow all safety rules and practices, including the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment.&nbsp;</li><li>Follow all personal hygiene and food safety practices. </li><li>Assist in training technicians as necessary. </li><li>Assist in problem-solving events to determine the root cause and establish preventive measures.&nbsp;</li><li>Act professionally toward co-workers, customers, vendors, or other visitors to the plant.&nbsp;</li><li>Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality, and a positive attitude. </li><li>Lab operations include but are not limited to cleanup, supply inventory, documentation, file and recordkeeping, and communications between lab, operations, and management personnel.&nbsp;</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned and required.</li></ul><br><br><br><br><strong>QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS </strong><br><ul><li>Two (2) years experience in a food processing environment. </li><li>High school graduates prefer college-level courses to work in chemistry or other sciences, or an associate s degree.
