Position Summary Under the direction of the Warehouse Manager the Transportation Coordinator administers the daily activities within transportation and focuses on inbound traffic administration for the Gilroy and Firebaugh locations. This may require travel to offsite warehouses and to other locations.




Position Responsibilities

Coordinate Inbound Routing Cross docking, drayage, and customs.

Respond to inquiries for Internal/External Routing LTL, FTL, Rail, Air, and International.

Apply Carrier knowledge (common vs. AE) territory coverage.

Provide daily support for filing.

Provide emergency coverage in shipping offices for Gilroy and Firebaugh that implies a working knowledge of activities at each site.

Internal communications with other areas affecting the daily activities through assigned areas.

External communications with other plants and carriers as required meeting the daily activities of assigned areas.

Responsible for special services required as outlined by supervisor for key customer accounts.

Other activities as assigned that support freight contracting and management.

Responsible for application of existing procedures. Assist in the development of ongoing procedures that support the missions of the warehouse department and protect the personnel, product, and facility assets under the care of the Warehouse Manager.

Responsible for personal development that will keep skill level in line with industry trends and requirements. Assures that agreed upon objectives are adequately tracked for timely completion and demonstrates knowledge and control over area activities.

Responsible for periodic audit of personal activities within the area to assure activities add value and promote continuous improvement of the area.

Develop a strong working relationship with peers, hourly employees and other contacts in upstream departments that significantly impact distribution cost.

Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that results in an accident free workplace. Perform other duties as assigned.




Position Requirements

High School diploma is required.

Three (3) years experience in transportation Industry is preferred.

Knowledge of trailer/tractor cubing is preferred.

High level of competency with warehouse, inventory, and transportation systems with advanced skills in SAP and PC use including spreadsheets and MS Office is required.

Outstanding customer service and problem-solving skills are required. Must be able to adapt and learn new process and systems quickly.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written are required, with keen ability to influence and tailor communication style and messages to a variety of audiences.
