Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Housekeeping/Sanitation Worker to join a pistachio processing facility in Firebaugh, CA. This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the plant to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of processing equipment, production areas, floors, walls, and common areas.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Clean up debris, dust, product waste, and other materials from machinery and floors.
- Operate sanitation equipment such as pressure washers, floor scrubbers, and hand tools.
- Properly mix and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety data sheets (SDS).
- Remove trash and recyclables to designated areas.
- Communicate any safety hazards or maintenance issues to supervisors promptly.
- Support plant operations by maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Previous sanitation, housekeeping, or janitorial experience preferred ideally in a food processing or agricultural environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding setting (standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs).
- Comfortable working around machinery, cleaning chemicals, and varying environmental conditions (heat, dust, etc.).
- Must follow safety and hygiene protocols consistently.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the Firebaugh location.
Work Environment:
- Indoor/outdoor environment in a pistachio processing facility.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- May require overtime, weekends, or extended hours during peak season.
