Job Title: QA Lab Technician
Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour
Schedule: 2nd shift
Position Summary
As a Lab Technician, you will perform laboratory testing throughout the manufacturing process to ensure products meet quality and food safety standards. This role is responsible for inspecting raw materials, testing in-process and finished products, documenting results, and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing, including Brix, pH, and acid content analysis.
- Conduct organoleptic evaluations, including odor, color, flavor, and appearance assessments.
- Verify product weight and volume.
- Prepare and use chemical reagents while recognizing chemical reactions and color changes.
- Ensure compliance with BRC, HACCP, GMP, and Cross Contamination Prevention Programs.
- Monitor production lines for quality and food safety compliance.
- Document test results accurately and report any product or process deviations.
- Notify supervisors of equipment malfunctions, low laboratory supplies, or specification violations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory work environment.
- Correct documentation errors according to company procedures.
- Assist with production audits and quality inspections when laboratory testing is complete.
- Participate in line changeovers and communicate scheduling concerns proactively.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by QA Leads or management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of Quality Control Laboratory Technician experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry.
- At least 2 years of auditing experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of BRC, HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and observation skills.
- Ability to think critically and solve problems.
- Strong communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Familiarity with weight and temperature measurements.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12-hour shifts.
- Regular bending, twisting, reaching, climbing stairs, and repetitive movements.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Work in hot and cold manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to loud production equipment and industrial machinery.
- Work closely with production personnel in a fast-paced environment.
- Must safely work around manufacturing equipment while following all safety procedures.
