Job Title: CNC Lathe Operator

Pay Rate: $20-22/hr.

Shift: 1st and 2nd available

SCOPE OF JOB 

A Level I CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently setting up and operating a Computer Numerical Code (CNC) machine and the associated rack and handling systems to perform threading and turning operations. Additionally, a Level I CNC Lathe Operator needs to be proficient at loading shorter parts, commonly referred to as accessories, which will be threaded or turned, into and out of the machine. 




SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Able to proficiently perform a pre-job checklist to confirm that the CNC Lathe is in proper working condition and can be operated in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Knowledge of the proper care and use of all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 
  • Demonstrate the ability to safely and competently set-up and operate a CNC Lathe and the handling system that is used to move pipe of various lengths in and out of the machine. 
  • Perform all threading and turning operations in accordance with all specified requirements including all Standard Operating Procedures and the Injury Illness Prevention Program. 
  • Must possess the ability to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain a clean and organized work area including the care of the CNC machine. 
  • Ability to setup the CNC machine including the handling system to ensure that the product conforms to the customer requirements and generate a first article part for quality control to inspect. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly install inserts and tooling that are commonly used for turning and threading operations. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform basic measuring of product including thread elements using standard measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers and Mechanical Ring and Plug (MRP) gauges. +
  • Must be knowledgeable and proficient in the care and use of ring and plug gauges that are used for validating and measuring certain connections. 
  • Ability to follow written or verbal instructions pertaining to all threading and turning requirements and ensure that the product conforms to the requirements stated on the work order. 
  • Must be able to properly understand the threading and turning instructions as stated on the work order and execute the work so that all product requirements are properly satisfied and can be verified by quality control.  
  • Assist with the maintenance of the machinery including lubrications and fluids. 
  • Must be able to identify material by the proper grade, dimensional properties, and connection types. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform math calculations that are required in for the role. This includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. 
  • As required, perform overtime and weekend work. 




SKILL REQUIREMENTS 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Prior CNC experience is preferred. 
  • Must have 80 hours of on the job training with a designated trainer. Training shall be monitored to ensure competency to operate all CNC lathes safely and to meet all product requirements.
