Job Title: Staff Accountant (Cost Accounting Experience)

Pay Rate: $30- $37/hr

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am - 5 pm (occasional overtime)\

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Accounting:
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules.
  • Prepare and process 1099's
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with the month-end and reconciliation and closing process.
  • Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations, identifying and rectifying errors.
  • Prepare a variety of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.




Cost Accounting:
  • Analyze data related to manufacturing processes, inventory management, and overhead expenses to provide insights for decision-making and cost control measures.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather cost data, forecast future expenses, and establish cost targets. Monitor and report on budget variances, highlighting areas of concern and recommending corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement cost allocation methodologies to accurately assign costs to products, projects, or departments.
  • Maintain and update costing systems to ensure accurate and timely cost information. Identify and implement improvements to streamline processes and enhance cost allocation accuracy.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory levels, ensuring accurate valuation and minimizing carrying costs. Collaborate with the procurement team to optimize inventory levels and identify opportunities for inventory reduction or obsolescence mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, policies, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.




Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with exposure to A/R, A/P, and cost accounting functions.
  • Three (3) years of Supervisory experience.
  • Solid understanding of basic GAAP accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

  • Must be detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance.
  • Strong leadership skills.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Able to stand, regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Must have good vision and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Walking and climbing stairs
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
  • Adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Plant equipment noise is elevated requiring the use of hearing protection and seasonal temperatures can be expected.
  • Exposure to approx. 85-decibel sound while on the plant floor (appropriate ear protection will be provided)
  • Exposure to cold temperatures while on the production floor and in other parts of the building
  • Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must be worn while on the production floor
